Your First Visit
At Parsi General & Children Dentistry, we want to ensure you have a convenient, stress-free experience your first time and every time you visit your dentist. Your first visit is the first step toward having a beautiful smile!
Things to Bring:
- Completed patient registration forms (we have them in the office as well)
- Dental insurance card
- A list of your current medications
- X-rays from your previous dentist or physician can be forwarded to our office (if applicable).
What to Expect
Once greeted by our front office staff, we will review your forms and discuss the reasons for your visit.
Your first appointment typically includes a review of your health history, a comprehensive review of your dental needs and concerns, and an exam by our dentist. In most cases, your initial appointment also includes a dental cleaning with the dental hygienist along with a play-by-play treatment plan to be scheduled on a future date. We use the first appointment to answer most of your questions about your dental health, financial considerations, and goals for treatment.
Dental History, Examination, and Cleaning
At the time for your appointment, you’ll be taken to the exam room where you get to meet your hygienist, who will review your dental needs, concerns, and your health history. Your existing restorations and gum/bone support will be charted, and x-rays will be taken and reviewed.
You will then meet Dr. Parsi who will perform an examination which includes:
- A tooth-by-tooth check for decay
- An oral cancer screening
- An assessment of periodontal (gum) health
- A bite evaluation
Dr. Parsi will discuss your current oral health status including your short-term and long-term dental goals. Dr. Parsi will explain any recommended dental treatments and answer any questions you have. You will have time to discuss payment and insurance questions pressure-free with staff before starting any treatment. In the absence of gum disease, you’ll receive a dental cleaning as well as any same-day treatment that doesn’t require planning. Dental emergencies will follow a different schedule as we want to provide the best experience possible for our patients in pain.
